Local low sidelobes Orthogonal Unimodular Discrete Phase Sequences and Receiving filter Bank Design for PMCW Automotive Radar

Joint design of unimodular orthogonal discrete phase sequences and receive filter bank is of great importance in low-cost multichannel systems, e.g., phase-modulated continuous wave (PMCW) automotive radar and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) equipments. In many existing automotive radars, waveforms with good correlation properties are chosen as transmitted signals and matched filtering scheme is employed at the receiver. In this paper, in order to improve the auto and crosscorrelation performance of waveforms, we propose a joint design of the unimodular orthogonal discrete phase sequences and mismatched receiving filter bank at the cost of a small loss in signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). A framework combining coordinate descent (CD) and majorization-minimization (MM) methods is introduced to deal with this problem. Finally, numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the superior performance of our algorithm compared to other algorithms.
