Wide beamwidth RDRA with metal patches and semi-arc slot

A compact wide beamwidth delectric resonator antenna (DRA) is presented in this paper. By loading two metal patches on both sides of the DRA. The DRA itself is equivalent to a short magnetic dipole, which forms a complementary effect with the short electric dipole equivalent to the current on the floor with a semi-arc shaped slot, better wide beam characteristics are achieved. The configuration, the simulated reflection coefficients, the realized gains and the radiation patterns of the proposed DRA are study.
