A 2.4GHz Low Noise Amplifier for 5G Application

This Paper presents the design and evaluation of a Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) operating at 2.4 GHz, tailored for the front-end of an RF receiver. The LNA, a critical component in RF systems, significantly influences the overall noise figure and, consequently, the receiver’ s sensitivity and performance. Designed using Cadence CMOS software at the 45nm technology node, the LNA aims to achieve optimal integration and performance in modern RF receivers. The designed LNA showcases a noise figure (NF) of 5.43 dB, a return loss of -9.82 dB, and a 1 dB compression point of -19.9 dBm. These parameters indicate a balance between gain and noise performance, characteristic of advanced RF amplification requirements. The study addresses the challenges and mechanisms in achieving low noise figures while managing other performance metrics such as gain and linearity, crucial for efficient RF reception.
