Underwater transient signal detection under two noise reduction methods

This paper examines the pivotal technology of underwater transient signal detection to enhance the detection efficacy and precision of transient signals in the context of low signal-to-noise ratio conditions. Furthermore, it aims to furnish robust support for the identification of underwater transient signals. According to the principle of signal generation and characteristic morphology, the signal model of object entering the water is established. Under the condition of a low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), wavelet packet and Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) noise reduction methods are used to reduce the signal with added noise, respectively. According to the root mean square error (RMSE) and the SNR after noise reduction, the advantages and disadvantages of the noise reduction effect of the two methods are compared. Then the noise reduction signal with a better effect is analyzed by Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT). The wavelet packet noise reduction method is an effective means of reducing noise levels in the signal of the object entering the water. It allows for the clear retention of the time-frequency characteristics of the original signal, and the transient signal can be identified by the time-frequency diagram.
