Simulation Analysis of Short Distance Transmission of Millimeter Waves in Rain Environment

This article mainly uses the PP model to simulate raindrops, and wraps raindrops of different sizes with air bounding boxes. By simulating electromagnetic wave energy transmission through analog waveguide ports, the commercial simulation software CST MWS is used to simulate the transmission coefficients of raindrops of different sizes. Analogous to the bouncing ray method in space, the plane wave aperture is divided into multiple ray tubes, and raindrop particles are divided into each ray tube. By calculating the energy attenuation of each ray tube, and finally summing up the energy of all ray tubes, the attenuation of radio waves through the rain environment is obtained. The results indicate that the variation pattern of this method in calculating rain attenuation is the same as that of the ITU-R model, but there is some error in the results, and further experimental verification is needed.
