Design and Development of an Automated Turmeric Drying Warehouse

One of the most necessary ingredients for our daily activities is turmeric. The use of turmeric for medical purposes has increased in the contemporary global environment. Due to its antimicrobial properties, turmeric's use in households has rapidly increased. It is used not just to cure cancer but also to defend against foreign microorganisms. As a result, turmeric farming has reached its pinnacle. Exporting and cultivating are difficult tasks. Turmeric passes through several steps after harvesting in order to produce the finished product. The most important stage in deciding the final product's quality is the drying process. The drying process has a significant impact on the turmeric's curcumin level. When turmeric doesn't dry completely, its curcumin concentration is impacted. Everything would be lost if curcumin disappeared. Thus, the drying process is labour-intensive, time-consuming, and expensive. Farmers used to endure hardships in order to continue this drying process. To help farmers a godown system is proposed with the automatic monitoring procedure for drying the turmeric. Polycarbonate sheets, used in the construction of godown's, are designed to absorb more sunlight and prevent it from escaping. A heating coil is installed within the godown to aid drying. 40°C is the ideal temperature for turmeric. Eventually, a temperature sensor and an exhaust will be utilized to keep the godown at this temperature. Both days and nights are spent operating this godown. During the day, the drying process makes use of the natural sunshine, and at night, when the temperature drops, an automated heating coil is activated. This variant quickly increases the heating efficiency to 100%. This godown may be used to dry a variety of vegetables and other food products. It does not adhere to turmeric; instead, the suggested model's efficiency is also attained by adjusting the regulated temperature according to the product type. In every case, it eliminates labour costs and yields significant profits for farmers.
