Optimal Location of Facts Device for Available Transfer Capability Using Firefly Algorithm

There is stress on the electrical power system everywhere in the world, but especially in India. The daily rise in the demand for electricity contributes to this tension. The transmission cables installed in the electrical power system are inflexible and difficult to adjust. The real and reactive power supply as well as the availability of margin in transmission lines determines the quality of electrical power transfer. Using the Continuation Power Flow (CPF) approach, ATC is calculated while taking the voltage profile and thermal constraints into account. As an optimization technique, Firefly Algorithm is utilized to find the position of TCSC. The proposed methodology is tested in the IEEE 14, 24,30, and 57 bus system reliability test system.
