Improving Voltage Stability in Fixed Speed Wind Energy Conversion System using FACTS Controller (STATCOM)

Nowadays energy utility is increased highly which leads the growth of power demand which forces power system to operate closer to its stability limits. By strengthening the power system in various forms voltage instability problems will arise. To meet the need of power demand wind farms is immensely developed. By using FACTS (Flexible AC transmission Systems) devices voltage stability can be enhanced in the power system. This FACTS device are like STATCOM, DVR, SVC, TCSC. In wind energy system we use STATCOM/DVR to refine the performance in wind farms which are connected to loads or grid. STATCOM has feature that it can absorb or insert reactive power. We design STATCOM by using CHB, MLC that to multilevel inverter 9th level. This project is done in MATLAB simulation.
