High-Speed 4:2 Priority Encoder Design and Simulation with FinFET 18nm Technology Using Cadence

This paper delves into the design and implementation of a high-performance 4:2 Priority Encoder utilizing FinFET 18nm technology. Priority encoders are essential components in various electronic systems, facilitating data manipulation and signal processing. Leveraging advanced semiconductor technologies like FinFET, with its three-dimensional architecture and superior electrostatic control, presents an opportunity to enhance encoder efficiency and performance. Domino Logic further complements FinFET technology, enabling dynamic cascading and overcoming static power dissipation limitations. The study utilizes the Cadence Virtuoso tool suite for comprehensive design, simulation, and analysis, showcasing the superiority of the proposed design over conventional approaches. Detailed simulations demonstrate energy efficiency, with an average power consumption of 2.67 II W, and improved delay characteristics, with propagation delays of 0.26 ps and 0.14 ps from input D2 to outputs A and B, respectively. The paper discusses potential avenues for further optimization, emphasizing the significance of advancing encoder design using cutting-edge semiconductor technologies.
