Intelligent Measurement of Forest Carbon Sequestration based on Entropy Weight and Coefficient of Variation Method

This paper proposes a model that accurately measures forest carbon sequestration, assesses forest value, and determines transition points for forest harvesting, to help government and other decision-makers formulate the best forest management plans to support the sustainable development of forests. The forest carbon sequestration measurement (FCSM) model is proposed to measure carbon sequestration in forests. Based on the biomass expansion factor algorithm, the carbon sequestration of the six components of the forest carbon pool is calculated respectively. Then, a forest management decision (FMD) model is established, and the selected 18 indicators related to forest value are integrated into the FMD model using the coefficient of variation method (CVM) and the entropy weight method (EWM). Based on the k-means algorithm, the forest cluster analysis of 145 countries worldwide has obtained the transition points of forest harvesting intervals, which are 2.9215,1.8341,3.4145, and 3.3703 for FVI, EC, SO, and BI, respectively.
