Comparative Analysis of the Effectiveness of Removing Surface Defects with Ceramic and Wire Brushes

Damage as a result of fatigue loads or cooperation of machine components usually begins on their surface or in the area of the surface layer. Surface defects can contribute to the accumulation of stress. This determines the development of methods, conditions and process parameters that will have a positive impact on the stereometric and physical properties surface layer. The aim of this study is to analyse the effectiveness of removing surface defects with ceramic and wire brushes. Both types of brushes, wire and ceramic can reduce surface defects depth. However, wire brushing has greater efficiency in reducing surface defects.
