Busbars Structural Requirements for DC Link in High Power Inverters: A Systematic Review

DC-link is one of the most important parasitic elements in high power inverters. At high power levels, it is not possible to make a DC-link using two strands of wire. Therefore, it is necessary to utilize metal plates in combination with insulator plates to form a busbar in the structure of the DC link. Although the use of busbars creates new challenges such as insulation issues, DC and AC components of current distribution, and oscillation problems between the busbar leakage inductor and formed capacitor. This paper presents a suitable design procedure of Multilayer busbar architecture at high power levels. Multilayer busbars have become more popular due to the benefits they offer, such as increased current levels and switching frequency.
