RF Human Exposure Mitigation in a Fusion Radar WPT System

This paper presents a Fusion Radar Wireless Power Transfer (FRWPT) system, which incorporates radar technology to prevent RF human exposure during wireless powering. The system operates by using a radar to detect a person's location and then estimating the power density (PD) accordingly. If the power exceeds RF exposure limits, the WPT system's transmitted power is controlled to prevent exposure. We propose an algorithm that dynamically modifies the WPT transmitter's output power based on the person's detected location to not only reduce the dangerous radiation but also maximize the transmitted power. Our experimental indoor measurements demonstrate the system's effectiveness in maintaining the PD below safety thresholds, regardless of varying distances and angles relative to the WPT system.
