LPG Monitoring System via Blynk Application Using ATMega328P

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is a flammable gas commonly used for cooking, heating appliances, and fuel. It poses risks when gas leakage occurs, such as fire accidents, cold burns, and asphyxia, although safely stored in a cylinder container. An LPG monitoring system was proposed in this design project. The LPG monitoring system is developed using an ATMega328P microprocessor, MQ-6 gas sensor, and an ESP32 Wi-Fi module for its Internet of Things (IoT) feature. When it comes to detecting LPG, the MQ-6 gas sensor is sensitive. The reading of the LPG monitoring system detects the LPG concentration in air in parts per million (ppm), and the values are displayed using the Blynk application on a smartphone. The LPG monitoring system includes the LED indicators, which represent the LPG concentrations present in the air. The prototype and commercial gas sensors yield relative value with a 7.07% average percent error during the testing. The LED indicators were able to light on their expected thresholds. Thus, the prototype was able to detect and monitor LPG leakage properly.
