Design of a 500W Single Phase Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM) Boost Power Factor Correction (PFC) with Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)

Due to the unpredictability of the input power source and the introduction of current harmonics to the mains line, the study proposes a 500W Single-Phase Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM) Boost Power Factor Correction (PFC) with Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC). It can operate at 90 to 264 VAC input voltages and has a regulated output voltage of 403VDC. It features protections such as input UVP, OVP, OCP, and power limit. It contains a 2-Stage EMI Filter and Analog Inrush Limiting Circuit for Conducted EMI and efficiency purposes. It has an 80 Plus Platinum Efficiency and complies with EN61000-3-2 Class A Harmonic Currents Limits, EN55032 Class A Conducted EMI Limits, and EN 61000-4-11 Voltage Dip requirements for EN55035 immunity. Design improvements were suggested to increase the prototype's accuracy, efficiency, and flexibility.
