MPPT Control Algorithm of Photovoltaic Array in Dynamic Environment

Maximum power point tracking(MPPT) is one of the key technologies of photovoltaic(PV) power generation system and an important way to improve the efficiency of PV power generation. In a dynamic environment, the power output characteristics of PV cells are multi-peak curves. In this paper, a particle swarm optimization(PSO) algorithm has designed to realize the maximum power output of PV arrays by initializing particle swarm individuals, conducting global scanning and mathematical calculation, and constantly updating individual and global optimal values. The BOOST circuit has been designed, and MATLAB/Simulink have been used for modeling and simulation. The experimental results show that compared with perturbation observation method and conductivity increment method,PSO has faster global search speed, higher tracking accuracy and better convergence ability for maximum power value under dynamic illumination.
