Research on sensing properties of a compact optical fiber microcavity fluorescence sensing probe

In this study, we successfully developed a compact optical fiber fluorescence probe based on a microcavity structure, which can be employed for the precise measurement of physical or chemical parameters. The fabrication process of this microcavity structure is simple, and it effectively amplifies the internal fluorescent signal. Using this structure combined with Rhodamine B, we conducted temperature measurements within the range of 20°C to 40°C. The results demonstrated that changes in fluorescence intensity accurately reflected temperature variations. Building on this structure, we incorporated etched quantum dots of CdTe/CdS with high specificity and completed concentration detections for Cd
²⁺
ranging from 3 μM to 160 μM. The findings revealed that the probe exhibits good linearity within the Cd
²⁺
concentration range of 10 μM-110 μM, with a detection limit as low as 3 μM. In conclusion, this microcavity-structured probe is not only easy to fabricate but also demonstrates excellent compatibility with various fluorescent materials, offering a robust tool for future environmental and health monitoring.
