Active Power Shortage Assessment for Power System Considering Static Load Voltage Characteristics

The large-scale integration of new energy leads to the low inertia characteristics of the new power system and the continuous decline of the frequency response capability. Therefore, it is necessary to estimate the system power shortage quickly and accurately to achieve the rapid replenishment of the subsequent power shortage. There is no clear solution to the problems of how to improve the prediction accuracy of unbalanced power borne by synchronous units and when to start the power shortage evaluation criterion in the traditional power shortage evaluation. Firstly, this paper establishes the start-up criterion of power shortage assessment to determine the timing for conducting power shortage assessments in the event of a grid disturbance. And secondly, the power shortage on the load side due to voltage offset is considered and summed with the unbalanced power borne on the generation side to get the corrected actual power shortage of the system. Simulations based on the CSEE-FS frequency stability standard test case of the China Electric Power Research Institute are carried out to verify the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed method.
