A Two-Channel Damping Control Strategy for Suppressing Sub/Supersynchronous Oscillations in Direct-Drive Wind Urbine Grid-Connected Systems

The sub/supersynchronous oscillations caused by direct-drive wind turbines connected to weak alternating current grids seriously endanger the security and stability of the power system. In this paper, a dual-channel damping control strategy is proposed for the grid-side converter with additional d and q-axis, which uses the d and q-axis direct current components as the input signals of the damping control, omits the phase shifting and limiting links to further simplify the structure of the damping control, and optimizes the control parameters on the basis of the results of the PSCAD/EMTDC simulations, which show that this paper’s method can effectively inhibit the sub/supersynchronous oscillation phenomenon of the direct-driven turbine grid-connected system. The simulation results of PSCAD/EMTDC show that the method in this paper can effectively suppress the sub/supersynchronous oscillation of direct-drive wind turbine grid-connected system.
