The response mechanism of the brain under different intervals of audio-visual stimuli

The brain exhibits different responses to stimuli of varying speeds, and to explore these differences, we designed an Oddball paradigm. We investigated and analyzed brain responses to visual, auditory, and audiovisual stimuli paradigms, conducting experiments at short intervals (250 ms) and long intervals (2000 ms). The results from ERP indicate that the amplitude of the P300 component elicited by slower stimuli is higher than that of faster stimuli, and the latency is longer, indicating a significant impact of stimulus speed on brain resource mobilization. Source analysis revealed differential responses of brain regions under different stimulus speeds. Compared to rapid stimuli, the brain under slower stimuli exhibited higher intensity and a wider range of activity. In conclusion, our study delves deeply into the influence of stimulus speed on brain activity, providing new insights and a theoretical foundation for understanding the cognitive processing mechanisms of the brain under different information transmission speeds.
