Optimized Design of Active Particle Traps for Gas Insulated Transmission Line

Metal particles moving in gas-insulated metal-enclosed transmission lines (GIL) are an important factor that induces equipment insulation failures, Particle traps are an important measure to inhibit the movement of metal particles, and the optimization of their structural parameters can improve the capture effect of particles. Firstly, this paper analyses mechanism of active particle capture based on the kinetic model of metal particles in the GIL, and the key factors of trapping and trapping particles are obtained under the axial electric field gradient force. Furthermore, by studied the influence of grid trap parameters on electric field strength, the particle trap parameters were optimized. Finally, the optimized particle trap was verified by the experienced test program, and the experimental verification showed that the metal particles basically entered the particle trap after 200kV~300kV co-pressurized for 20 min, the particles no longer had obvious movement when the pressure was pressurized, which verified the effectiveness of the designed particle trap in capturing metal particles.
