Semi-Implicit Time Integration Method for a FEM-Parameterized Plant Model of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

A FEM-parameterized motor model considering the armature current- and rotor position-dependent characteristics is widely used in designing control systems of a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) as its plant model. However, it is indispensable to achieve further speedup for real-time simulation of the plant model. In this study, with a view to speeding up the circuit simulation by avoiding iterative calculations required to solve nonlinear equations, semi-implicit time integration methods are applied to the PMSM plant model, and the effectiveness of the presented approaches is verified.
