Analytical Study and Experimental Verification of Electromagnetic Vibration Sources and Optimization of Rotor Skew in Surface Mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine

In this paper, a method for calculating the cogging torque and air-gap flux density of a surface mounted permanent magnet machine was studied. First, a simplified model of the machine to be analyzed was presented, and the magnetic vector potential was defined using a governing equation after dividing the region by section. The air gap flux density was derived using appropriate boundary conditions, and based on this, the cogging torque was calculated. The results of the simplified analytical model were validated using the finite element method (FEM) and experiments, and the proposed method was used to investigate the influence of rotor skew on cogging torque.
