A New Magnetic Design with Annular Sector Coils of an Inductive Angular Position Sensor

With the demands increasing of new energy vehicles, a new magnetic design with annular sector coils of an inductive angular position sensor with high accuracy and low cost was proposed to satisfy the assembling space requirements of vehicle. The proposed sensor was composed of a rotor mounted on the middle of shaft, an annular sector shaped excitation coil, and two relative receiving coils. The sensor was electromagnetically simulated by finite element method in transient analysis. The induced voltage was obtained through the simulation and processed to obtain the angle error. Prototypes will be manufactured and the simulated angular error will be experimentally verified.
