Application of POD to Time Domain Simulation of Nonlinear Field-Circuit Coupled Problems

The proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) is applied to time domain simulation of a coupled magnetic field – electrical circuit problem under voltage excitation. To solve the nonlinear system equation when using the reduced order model (ROM), an interpolation technique combined with partial resampling is proposed. The interpolation model is constructed on the work point in each time step, which leads to a linear matrix. To evaluate the model reduction technique, the transient state of an E-core inductor is studied using the full finite-element model and the ROM.
