A Study on the Comparison of Electromagnetic Design According to the Application of CFRP Sleeve to IPMSM

In this paper, we study the improvements in performance and manufacturability achieved by applying carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) to the rotor assembly of an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor. In order to reduce the mises stress of the rotor core, the dispersed design without CFRP sleeve model and the with CFRP sleeve model using only the CFRP sleeve are compared. Five models are analyzed for comparison. For the without CFRP sleeve model, it was tested at speeds of 30krpm, 27krpm, 24krpm, and 21krpm, and for the with CFRP sleeve model, it was tested at a speed of 30krpm. To satisfy the target parameters, which are the design goals of each model, design and analysis were performed by changing the number of turns and stack length. In addition, this paper examines the advantages of applying CFRP and predicts the cost for each model through volume calculation.
