Tri-Band CPW-Fed Four Element MIMO Antenna for Wireless Applications

The paper presents a CPW fed 4x4 MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) antenna with triple-band notch characteristics for several wireless communication applications. The MIMO antenna comprises of four circular-shaped radiating patch components modified with a U-shape and an inverted U-shape slot and provided with CPW feeding, consisting of size 140mm x 140mm. The proposed MIMO antenna is operational over 3.77GHz, 6.20GHz and 8.68GHz in the ultra-wide band spectrum region. The antenna obtains max gain of 9.01dBi and directivity of 11.58dB and all other MIMO parameters like ECC, DG and MEG well under the set practical standards. Thus, the proposed antenna is suitable for different wireless applications including radar imaging, radio astronomy and satellite communication.
