Survey on Methods for Identifying and Classifying Lung Nodules using Lung CT Scan Images

Lung cancer is a threat to humanity and is the leading cause of death among various cancer-related fatalities. The presence of lung nodules within the human lungs, whether benign or malignant, profoundly influences the severity of lung ailments. This study focuses on diverse methodologies employed for the identification and categorization of lung nodules, which, in turn, will aid experts in the field for more precise diagnoses. Among numerous imaging techniques, Computed Tomography (CT) is highly recommended due to its superior resolution and facilitating the localization of lung lesions. Computer Aided Detection/Diagnosis (CAD/x) offers significant advantages over manual interpretation in terms of speed and accuracy. This paper aims to provide an overview of various approaches proposed by different researchers over the years of their investigations.
