Experimental study results of EMC 5G network transmitters and fixed service receivers for sharing utilization of 4.4-5.0 GHz band

According to the GSA database, dozens of countries around the world have utilized or are planning to use the n79 band (4.4 - 5.0 GHz), which is defined by 3GPP as the 5G band. At WRC-19, over 40 countries identified some or all of the spectrum in this band for IMT-2020/5G. This band, as per the Radio Regulations and the ECA, is also allocated to microwave links (MWL) of the Fixed service. The sharing of the n79 band (4.4 - 5.0 GHz) between 5G networks and MWL may cause harmful interference to fixed service radio receivers. This article presents the results of an experimental study on the protection criteria for typical MWLs in case of interferences from transmitters of 5G networks using the 4.4-5.0 GHz band. The obtained results allow for solving the EMC problem for its shared utilization.
