Morris Sensitivity Analysis on Conducted Emissions of an Inverting Buck–Boost Converter

Electromagnetic compatibility simulations of switched-mode power supplies are essential, as fast switching of high power can result in unacceptable electromagnetic emissions. This paper presents an easy-to-use methodology to highlight the major contributors to increased conducted emissions due to parallel RLC resonant circuits. The Morris method for global sensitivity analysis is applied to the frequency response of a DC-DC converter. This allows rapid detection of electronic components responsible for emissions in a specific frequency range. A link to Sobol’s total sensitivity index is proposed to determine the relative contribution of each component. Thus, contributors to electromagnetic interference can be quickly identified and weighted, enabling improved root cause analysis.
