Efficient Shielding of the Noise Coupling to the Grid Cable in Motor Drives

Inthis paper, an investigation of parasitic coupling from the motor cable to the grid cable in motor drives and its mitigation aspects using field shielding technique are presented. A simple and efficient L-shape shielding is proposed and validated using real-life test setup showing very good performance of the proposed solution. Current investigation has been applied to the CM noise mitigation, which usually dominates in motor drives. However, the same principle is equally valid for DM noise mitigation, caused by parasitic cable coupling.
