An Impedance-Independent PCI Model of Conducted HEMP for Long Lines

Pulsed current injection (PCI) is a conducted vulnerability testing method that injects pulsed current into the port of the tested object. Currently, the relevant standards only specify the waveform of the pulse generator without specifying the injected electrical quantities. This makes the difference of transient stress between the field-to-line coupling procedure and PCI tests, resulting in under-testing or over-testing problems. This paper derives a novel PCI model for long lines, which overcomes the limitations of equivalence, and can be applied regardless of the impedance of terminal loads.
