Peculiarities of Intraoperative Measurements of Hearing Cochlear Implants CI 512 and CI 612 Installed in Russia

The article reports the peculiarities of intraoperative testing of hearing implants (manufacturer Cochlear, Australia) CI 512 and CI 612 with perimodiolar electrode array which are implanted nowadays in the specialized medical institutions of Russia. Forward Masking artifacts removal technology to implants CI 512 and CI 612 used when testing the hearing implants of the manufacturer is introduced. Overview of the automated algorithm Auto Neural Response Telemetry (AutoNRT) used in testing software Custom Sound EP version 6.0 (CSEP) is given. Registration of electrically evoked Compound Action Potential (eCAP) of the auditory nerve in Advanced Neural Response Telemetry (Advanced NRT) mode when using Forward Masking technology in CSEP is modelled. The new way of eCAP search on intracochlear electrodes in Advanced NRT mode by relatively high equivalent current amplitude for all electrodes under study in intraoperative testing is offered. In CSEP a template for making intraoperative measurements in Advanced NRT mode including 160 measurements with all available basic parameters (gain of an implant stimulator, delay, recording intracochlear electrode) to visually detect eCAP is developed. The given template may be used in case of non-receiving automated eCAP on electrodes when using AutoNRT automated algorithm to decrease Cochlear implantation (CI) operation real time as compared to testing in Advanced NRT mode in CSEP without any template.
