Strong AI and the Biotechnological Moral Enhancement

In this paper, the recent philosophical programs of using the artificial intelligence in human biotechnological moral enhancement are investigated. The foremost object of analysis is “the God Machine” project by Persson I. and Savulescu J. We use the conceptual analysis as well as the procedures of ethical research and the social contextualization analysis to evaluate the potential of these theoretical programs to secure the declared objectives of creating the perfect moral agents. We argue that the projects of using AI for human moral enhancement face the difficulties with cases of possible “moral failure” as well as with moral uncertainty that constitute an extremely important condition of moral life. The article considers application of the raised concerns and problems within the framework of microchip implantation. We also draw the conclusions that specify the criteria for designing artificial general intelligence as the self-developing and self-learning devices that could operate productively in the complex environment of the human society. We discuss the cases of professional ethics that may include norms contradicting the generally accepted ones i.e. in using the AI in military devices and the political choices.
