High Temperature Trailing Phenomenon of Sliding Electrical Contact in Pantograph-catenary System

To further understand the high temperature tailing phenomenon in the contact area of the pantograph-catenary system, the influence of contact current, sliding speed, the material of contact wire and rain environment on the phenomenon were analyzed by simulation. Peak distance and trailing temperature difference were used to reflect the intensity of the high temperature tailing phenomenon. When the contact area moves from one end of the slide surface to the other end, the peak distance increases and then decreases obviously, and the trailing temperature difference shows the opposite variation law. Sliding speed, contact current and the material of contact wire have little influence on the peak distance. Under the same conditions, the peak distance in rainfall environment is larger than that in no-rain environment. Contact current has little influence on the trailing temperature difference. When other conditions are the same, the trailing temperature difference increases with the increase of sliding speed. The trailing temperature difference of CuMg contact wire is slightly larger than that of pure copper and CuSn contact wire. The trailing temperature difference is larger in no-rain environment than that in rainfall environment. It has a certain reference value for understanding the sliding electrical contact performance of pantograph-catenary system.
