Optimal SOP Configuration for Improving the Carrying Capacity of DG in Distributed Network

With the rise of clean energy, the limitations of traditional thermal power generation are becoming increasingly apparent. The rapid growth of new energy installed capacity, especially distributed generation, presents numerous challenges to the distribution network. Soft open points (SOPs) offer a potential solution by regulating power flow and improving the penetration rate of distributed generation. However, the selection of SOP location and capacity significantly impacts the installed capacity of distributed generation. Therefore, it is necessary to study the configuration method of SOPs in order to enhance DG's carrying capacity in a multi-SOP scenario. This paper proposes a multi-SOP based optimization configuration model for maximizing DG's carrying capacity while considering safe operation constraints within the distribution network. To improve convergence and calculation efficiency, nonlinear constraints in this model are simplified and transformed into a convex optimization model that can be solved using commercial solvers. Finally, we verify the effectiveness of our proposed optimization model by analyzing a modified IEEE33 distribution network model and comparing it with traditional calculation methods.
