General Identification Method of Dominant FRT Parameters of Wind Turbines

To solve the problem of poor accuracy with the default parameters in the simulation of large-scale power systems, based on the analysis of the fault ride-through(FRT) related control principles in the transient model of mainstream wind turbines, this paper proposes a generalized method of identifying the dominant parameters in the low-voltage ride-through(LVRT) process by using the measured fault response characteristic curves of actual wind turbines. Firstly, the ground impedance of the fault-generating device under each test condition is calculated by the equivalent circuit method to establish a standard fault test environment. Then, the relevant control parameters are identified by combining the least-squares method and the LVRT control principle. Afterward, a simulation model of the whole process for low-voltage ride-through in the wind turbine is established in the simulation software, and the results of identification are verified by simulation. The comparison of results with measured curves and subsequent error calculation demonstrates the high simulation accuracy of the identified model and parameters, providing a reliable basis for scheduling operations and simulation analyses of new-type power systems.
