A Modified Rotor Position Estimation Strategy for PMSM Using Predictive Current Error of FCS-MPC

Finite control-set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) is a promising scheme for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) with its advantages of simple structure and multi-constraint control, where the applied voltage vector is directly selected by the cost function. However, due to the inherent discrete nature of FCS-MPC, conventional position estimation methods using single t5-axis predictive current errors suffer from power generation instability during medium and high speed regions. To address this problem, a modified rotor position estimation strategy is proposed to improve the power generation stability. Among that, the predictive current errors of
$\delta -\mathbf{axis}$
and
$\gamma-\mathbf{axis}$
are used simultaneously to extract positional information. The experimental results are eventually conducted to validate the proposed methods.
