Thermal-Electrical-Risk Coupled Modeling of Battery Energy Storage System Considering Stabilizing Intermittent Power Fluctaution

To address the issue of uncertainty in the output of energy storage systems resulting from the integration of new energy sources into the grid, a thermal-electrical-risk coupled model for energy storage is established. This model employed Automatic Generation Control (AGC) to regulate the power output of energy storage systems, thereby managed their stochastic output. By operating the energy storage model under uncertain output conditions, parameters related to temperature, capacity degradation, and internal resistance increase are obtained, facilitating a comprehensive analysis of the electrical, thermal, and safety performance of the energy storage system. Furthermore, under the condition of equal input and output electrical energy, the thermal-electrical-risk coupled model of energy storage is controlled for constant-power charging and discharging. A comparison is made between the temperature and performance degradation indicators of the energy storage system under the two scenarios, aiming to analyze the impact of output uncertainty on temperature and risk when integrated into the grid. The results indicate that compared to constant-power charging and discharging, uncertain output leads to significant temperature fluctuations and the occurrence of excessively high temperatures, thereby accelerating the performance degradation of the battery.
