Capacity Planning and Economic Analysis of Off-grid Offshore Wind-Hydrogen Storage Integrated Systems

Hydrogen production from offshore wind power is an effective means to solve the problems of grid connections and consumption difficulties of large-scale offshore wind farm, and the high cost of power delivery in the deep and distant sea. At present, the offshore wind power hydrogen production industry is still in the exploratory start-up stage, lack of industrial top-level design, demonstration project experience and mature business models, there is an urgent need to carry out the development of offshore wind power hydrogen production project strategic planning and technology research and development, to explore and study the scientific and reasonable, locally adapted offshore wind power hydrogen production system program. In this paper, the off-grid offshore wind hydrogen storage integrated system is taken as the research object, and the mathematical model of the system is constructed. Meanwhile, according to the different types of collector and hydrogen production methods, four schemes are designed for comparison, and with the minimization of Levelized Cost of Hydrogen (LCOH) as the objective function, the capacity planning of electrolysis capacity and storage tanks is carried out for each scheme. The system construction scheme combining the AC collector system and the PEM hydrogen production technology has the lowest LCOH cost, and has the largest NPV, which is competitive among the four schemes at the hydrogen selling price of 6.6€/kg.
