Comparison of Structural Design Performance between 30 kV Oil-immersed Transformer and Dry-type Transformer

The high-voltage pulse power supply was characterized by its high output voltage, narrow pulse width, large output current, and high frequency, rendering it extensively utilized across various fields. The transformer stood as a pivotal component within this system. In order to minimize the transformer's size, both oil-immersed and dry-type transformers utilizing the same transformer body were designed and compared. Simulation tools were used to analyze aspects such as appearance size, leakage inductance, temperature rise, and mechanical strength of the two transformer types. Under the condition of voltage with 30 kV, the dry-type transformer required a significantly smaller volume, approximately one-quarter of the oil-immersed transformer. Moreover, the temperature rise and mechanical strength of the dry-type transformer met the necessary requirements for operation.
