Study on Optimized Operation and Configuration of Energy Storage Promoting the Consumption of Renewable Energy

The global energy transition has witnessed a significant shift towards renewable energy sources like solar and wind. However, the intermittent and volatile nature of renewable energy poses challenges to the stability of power systems. Energy storage technology has emerged as a key solution, considering the growing demand for new energy consumption., proposing an optimal configuration model for energy storage capacity. The objective is to minimize the system's operating cost., including thermal power generation fuel cost and penalties for renewable energy abandonment. The unit commitment model incorporates economic and environmental considerations., with thermal power unit and renewable energy planned power as decision variables. The model addresses constraints related to power balance., thermal power generation output., renewable energy planning., and energy storage. Case analysis using a modified IEEE 30-node system demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed model. Three scenarios with different energy storage capacities were studied., revealing that optimal storage allocation significantly influences system operation and new energy consumption.
