Slot-pole combination and optimization of a flux-concentrating fault-tolerant permanent magnet vernier rim-driven motor

The flux-concentrating fault-tolerant permanent magnet vernier rim-driven motor (FCFTPMV-RDM) achieves higher torque density by improving the fundamental and low-order harmonics of the air gap magnetic density. This paper mainly focuses on the impact of structural parameters on output torque (Te) and torque ripple under various slot-pole combinations to further enhance motor performance. Firstly, the structure of the motor is analyzed, and then potential slot-pole combinations are identified. The impacts of structural parameters on the Te and torque ripple of motors with different slot-pole combinations is analyzed using finite element analysis. It is concluded that the motor with slot-pole combinations of 12/36/11/25 has the highest Te and the lowest torque ripple. Finally, the electromagnetic performance of the motor is analyzed using finite element analysis.
