A Novel Model Predictive Control Strategy Based on Passivity for DC-DC Converter

Due to the strong controllability and high reliability of DC microgrids, it has become the predominant power supply system in the field of power electronics today. Owing to the access of loads, energy storage devices, photovoltaic, and other subsystems. The performance characteristics of microgrid control are complex. However, the traditional linear control makes it difficult to meet the high dynamic performance requirements of the microgrid. In order to improve the control effect, nonlinear control methods are widely used nowadays. In this paper, a novel control strategy named PB-FCSMPC is employed, which is based on finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) and passivity-based control (PBC). To verify the control effect of the scheme, the Euler-Lagrange (EL) model of the boost converter is established, and the passive controller is designed using the damping injection method. Then, the output voltage obtained from the passive control equation is embedded in the FCS-MPC cost function to ensure predictive control and achieve multi-obj ective optimization. Finally, simulation experiments are conducted to validate the proposed control strategy in the boost converter. In a comparative simulation analysis, the control results of the proposed control strategy are compared with the conventional PBC, which validated that the PB-FCSMPC has better dynamic performance.
