Analytical Modeling and Calculation of High-Speed Surface Mounted PMSM Based on Subdomain Method

This paper proposes a slotless analytical subdomain model of surface mounted PMSM based on Carter coefficient. This model is simplified from an open-slot motor and only needs to solve fourth-order linear equations under each harmonic order, which can avoid strong coupling of the entire coefficient matrix and high-order matrix inversion operation. This model can solve the partial differential equations of each subspace much easier, which can avoid the potential problems during complicated calculation, making it has better robustness. What's more, this model makes it convenient to quickly and accurately conduct a qualitative analysis on a series of surface mounted PMSM with different parameters. The comparison with finite element method shows that the subdomain method presented in this paper has low error and fast calculation speed.
