Simulation Design of Series Resonant Power Supply for Submarine High-Voltage Cable Testing

The submarine cables are long and have a large capacitance. The existing cable voltage withstand test power supply is bulky and inconvenient for mobility to use in the field. This paper presents the design of a power electronic series resonant power supply consisting of a three-phase PWM rectifier, inverter, and a series-resonant circuit. The Circuit parameters were determined through MATLAB/Simulink simulation, and an adjustable frequency in the range of 30–300 Hz was developed. The power supply has a simple and compact structure, easy operation, and a wide range of applications, meeting the withstand voltage requirements for high-voltage electrical equipment. The paper also presents a prototype of a 10kVA power supply that has been built based on this research.
