Distribution Transformer Core Design Optimization Using Heuristic Optimization Methods

This paper explores the effectiveness of heuristic optimization algorithms in optimizing the design of circular-shaped transformer cores. The objective function and constraints are formulated mathematically and implemented in the MATLAB environment. The optimization results are compared to assess algorithm performance. Analysis of the gap at different steps is conducted. The findings indicate that taking into account manufacturing considerations and the time needed to construct each core step, the optimal number of steps falls within the range of seven to ten.
