An Improved MPPT Controller for PV based Converters without Irradiation Sensor and Memory unit

The intrinsic shortcoming of the Constant Voltage (CV) MPPT system is its insensitivity to temperature and irradiance, which makes it difficult to track maximum power. A modified form of CV MPPT called Adaptive Reference Voltage (ARV) senses both temperature and irradiance to provide better tracking. This paper proposes a modified adaptive reference voltage (MARV) MPPT without irradiation sensor and memory requirement. This approach necessitates two additional temperature and irradiance sensors, as well as a large amount of processing memory, which drives up installation costs. For a 0.26 kW PV panel operating at constant temperature and variable irradiance, the suggested MARV MPPT is implemented. The theoretical results are validated by simulating the suggested scheme using MATLAB Simulink.
