Enhancing the Control of a DC/AC Converter for Voltage Perturbation Ride-Through in Compliance with the Cuban Grid Code

This paper presents the implementation of a low-voltage ride-through (LVRT) control system based on the Cuban grid code requirements. The developed control system works in conjunction with the typical internal control of three-phase inverters, where in the event of voltage sags and short-circuits, it allows the converter to remain online for a reasonable time by injecting reactive current to improve the ride-through capability. The outcomes of the simulations show how the implemented control effectively adjusts the reactive current output in the event of a LVRT, in compliance with the Cuban grid code requirements. Furthermore, the control ensures synchronization with the grid following the event and manages any potential unbalances that may occur.
