Laser Material Processing Using Diffractive Optical Elements

Effective implementation of laser material processing involves achieving a predetermined distribution of power density of laser beams in selected areas on the surface of the processed material. This study explores the use of diffractive optical elements (DOEs) for laser material processing and nanostructure formation. The results underscore the effectiveness of laser technologies with adjustable spatial distribution of beam power in enhancing the strength and wear resistance of metallic materials, as well as the strength of welded joints. Additionally, the possibility of controlling the morphology of nanostructures by utilizing spatial redistribution of laser irradiation energy is discussed.
